PCV Medical

Being a driver for a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) can be a big responsibility. To hold a full and valid practical licence, it is vital that you have an up to date medical assessment. At Manchester Medicals, we can offer you a full medical examination by a fully certified GMC (General Medical Council) practitioner at a fraction of the usual cost. It can cost up to £100 to obtain a medical from you GP and can also take as long as 3 weeks to acquire an appointment. By booking a medical assessment with us, you are guaranteed a fast and extensive service that will fulfill all government requirements in less that 1 hour.

Booking your PCV medical test with us could not be easier. We have an online booking form available for your to fill in at your convenience, or feel free to call us to book an appointment over the phone. There are no queues and our customers are seen as quickly as possible. It is possible for us to rush through an appointment; if you do need your appointment as quickly as possible, please do not hesitate to contact us and discuss it further.

During your examination, you will be assessed by a professional medical practitioner with over 10 years experience. You will be asked a series of routine questions, most of which you may have answered on your D4 form. It is crucial that you download a D4 form (either from our website or a government website) and fill it in prior to your appointment. If you attend your assessment without your D4 form, your appointment will not go forward.

You will be asked a number of questions regarding your general wellbeing, both mental and physical. Our doctor will also ask you about any pre existing medical conditions and ask for any information/ previous paperwork or medical records. It is important to note that if you should develop any new conditions between licence renewals to contact the DVLA directly. During the exam, you will undertake a blood pressure test, an eye exam and be asked to provide a urine sample for diabetes screening. Our trained professional will assess your answers and record them on the D4 form. It is important to note that our doctors do not have the power to grant you your licence, this is a decision that is exclusively down to the DVLA. We have no power or influence over the decision.

Once your examination is over, our doctors will sign and stamp the D4 form. It will then be ready to send to the DVLA for further assessment. Again, it is important to note that Manchesters Medical staff are not qualified to determine if you are fit to drive. If you should develop any changes to your health or medical status, it is imperative that you contact the DVLA directly as not doing so my invalidate your licence and insurance.
